Financial Director
Finance Director - Swindon (4 days on-site) - Salary to £120,000
We are partnering with a leading, multi-site, project-led organisation to appoint a Finance Director into a critical leadership role. This position sits at the heart of regional decision-making, providing both strategic direction and hands-on financial leadership across a complex, operational environment.
We are particularly interested in individuals with experience operating within a PLC environment, bringing a strong understanding of governance, controls, and reporting standards associated with listed businesses.
This is a high-profile role with direct exposure to regional and divisional leadership, offering the opportunity to drive performance, influence growth strategy, and play a key role in the ongoing expansion of the business.
A bit more about the Role....
Act as a key strategic partner to the Regional MD, supporting the overall leadership, performance, and direction of the region Lead all aspects of financial planning, analysis, control, and reporting, ensuring robust financial management across the region Provide commercial insight and challenge on investment decisions, including land acquisitions, project viability, and capital allocation Own the budgeting, forecasting, and long-term planning cycles, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives Monitor performance against plans, identifying risks and opportunities and driving accountability across the leadership team Oversee the production of timely and accurate management accounts, delivering clear and actionable financial insight Lead cashflow management across the region, ensuring strong control over working capital and cash performance Take ownership of weekly and quarterly performance forecasting, working cross-functionally to ensure accurate delivery expectations Maintain oversight of cost control, including provisions, overheads, and financial risk management Act as the financial conscience of the region, ensuring full visibility and understanding of key financial drivers and risks Lead investment appraisals and challenge assumptions to ensure robust and commercially sound decision-making Support the ongoing optimisation of project performance, including post-investment reviews and variance analysis Drive improvements in financial processes, controls, and governance, leveraging PLC experience to enhance best practice Play a key role in shaping and delivering the region’s three-year strategic plan Support regional growth initiatives, focusing on profitability and return on capital employed Lead, develop, and inspire a high-performing regional finance team Provide clear direction, ensuring delivery against financial objectives and continuous development of team capability Oversee financial governance across joint ventures, including compliance, reporting, and stakeholder management

Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) with significant senior leadership experience Proven track record in a Finance Director or senior leadership role within a complex, multi-site or project-based environment Prior experience working within a PLC or listed business, with strong knowledge of governance, controls, and reporting requirements Demonstrated experience supporting business growth, investment decisions, and strategic planning Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the credibility and gravitas to operate at senior leadership level Hands-on, dynamic approach with the ability to operate both strategically and operationally High levels of emotional intelligence, with the ability to build relationships and lead through influence Experience managing joint ventures and complex stakeholder arrangements Exposure to group/divisional reporting structures within large organisations
