Company Description

Theatre Royal Bury St Edmunds is a historic Regency playhouse, built in 1819 and beautifully restored to its original design, making it one of Britain’s most significant theatre buildings. As the only theatre within the National Trust property portfolio, it offers an intimate, Grade I listed setting for audiences and artists alike. The Theatre presents a vibrant, year-round program of drama, music, dance, and comedy featuring leading companies and performers. It is well known for producing high-quality dramas and its much-loved annual pantomime. Alongside performances, the Theatre runs extensive education and community programs that engage people of all ages and backgrounds.

Role Description

The Financial Director is a volunteer role responsible for overseeing the Theatre’s financial strategy and governance, ensuring long-term sustainability and compliance. This hybrid position is based in Bury St Edmunds, with the option to complete some duties from home. Day-to-day tasks include reviewing financial statements and reports, monitoring cash flow, and supporting budgeting and forecasting processes in collaboration with the senior leadership team. The Financial Director will provide analytical insights to support decision-making, advise on risk management, and help maintain robust financial controls and policies. The role also involves attending board and committee meetings, contributing to financial discussions, and supporting fundraising and strategic initiatives when required.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
