Financial Director

Finance Director | Track to CFO

Location: East Midlands Salary: c£150,000 + bonus + profit share + healthcare + benefits

This is a rare opportunity to join a fast moving, high growth consumer business at an important stage in its development.

The business has grown quickly and has built a clear position in its market through a simple, efficient and customer focused operating model. It is ambitious, commercially led and moves at real pace.

This is a key Finance Director hire, with a clear route towards CFO.

The finance function has been through a meaningful period of change. Controls have improved, reporting is in a better place, the team is leaner, and there is now a platform to build from. The next Finance Director will need to keep that momentum going.

About the Role

You will lead a small finance team and take ownership of:

  • Reporting
  • Forecasting
  • Cash
  • Working capital
  • Controls
  • Margin
  • Cost management
  • Audit
  • External relationships

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

You will also work closely with the senior leadership team, bringing clear commercial insight around performance, growth, cost control and operational decision making.

This role needs someone who can bring structure without slowing the business down. The culture is quick, direct and entrepreneurial. Decisions are made at pace, so the right person will need to be comfortable operating close to the detail, reacting quickly, and helping the business make good commercial decisions without unnecessary layers of process.

Ideal Background

The ideal background would be a fast-paced consumer, e-commerce, wholesale, distribution, multi-site, product or operationally complex business. Somewhere stock, margin, cash, service and cost control really matter.

Experience in a more structured environment could be useful, particularly around controls, governance, reporting, audit and external stakeholders, but this is not a role for someone who needs a slow-moving corporate setting.

Requirements

You will need to be:

  • A qualified accountant
  • Credible with senior stakeholders
  • Calm under pressure
  • Able to balance hands-on leadership with broader strategic input

This is a full-time, office-based role with some flexibility in the East Midlands. It will suit someone already based locally, or within a realistic daily commute, as the business is focused on candidates who can be close to the team from the outset.
