About this Role
We are looking for a motivated graduate or professional in the early stages of their career, from an economics, statistical or other quantitative discipline, to join our team of Financial Economists and make a positive impact to the global financial market from day one. This role will work in a project team bringing advanced quantitative and data driven techniques to highly complex disputes involving financial markets and securities litigation.
This role can be based in London, Madrid or Rome.
Key Responsibilities
The Financial Economist will work on financial projects that require econometric, statistical or other more quantitative/qualitative financial analysis techniques.

Some notable responsibilities will include:
- Conducting detailed qualitative and quantitative financial analysis of allegations of financial misconduct as part of the delivery of Fideres’ expert consulting mandates
- Data extraction, cleaning, processing, manipulation and management for data heavy projects
- Writing comprehensive reports that summarize the key findings of our analysis in a simple, succinct manner
- Verbally presenting key findings to clients in a manner that allows them to understand both the results and how they impact their own clients
- Communicating with clients and stakeholders in a timely, clear and concise manner
- Taking the initiative in suggesting ways to strengthen the quality of our analysis; with progression to proactively developing new business opportunities
- Keeping on top of market developments to generate new case ideas
Key Skills and Attributes
The successful candidate will have:
- A keen interest in financial markets and a strong belief in fair and transparent markets
- A strong record of academic achievement with a relevant degree(s) in economics, financial economics, statistics or other quantitative subjects (data analysis, mathematics etc.)
- Proficiency with data analysis software and programming experience (e.g., Python, R, Excel)
- Some hands-on experience in complex/big data manipulation, management, and analysis. Experience of database programs (e.g., SQL, Postgres) is a plus
- Solid understanding of data analysis techniques, and statistical inference
- Attention to detail and a commitment to going the extra mile to produce rigorous, accurate work, within the constraints of the time and resources available
- Excellent written and verbal communication, including experience of writing reports and presentations
- Strong communication skills and enjoys building relationships with key stakeholders, has the ability to explain economic concepts and quantitative results, as well as their implications, to non-specialists
- Integrity, and a creative, curious mind
- A high level of accountability, and not afraid to express and opinion and offer new solutions
