Financial Planner

Job Title
Financial Planner (Wealth Manager)
Job Purpose
To build and develop trusted relationships with current and potential clients. To be responsible for delivering financial planning and wealth management advice. To work within the context of an agreed business plan. All advice given to clients must be suitable, tailored and personalised to the client and in line with advice and control policies.
Key Responsibilities
Client Relationships & Advice
- Look after and support client needs
- Execute the annual Business Plan in line with agreed individual targets
- Build new client relationships and maintain/develop existing client relationships through effective service delivery
- Minimise attrition and secure new instructions and referrals from satisfied clients
- Structure and lead client meetings professionally
- Ensure all information/advice is up-to-date, technically accurate, and meets client needs
- Provide personalised advice to help clients achieve their financial objectives
- Consider factors such as retirement planning, inheritance, and tax efficiency
- Conduct annual client reviews based on changing risk attitudes and objectives
- Collaborate with Investment Management colleagues to strengthen client relationships

Compliance & Record-Keeping
- Maintain an up-to-date New Business Pipeline (NBP) with correct values and timelines
- Ensure comprehensive client records are accurate and compliant with Group policy
- Aim for zero complaints; if received, raise them with the Client Resolution team promptly
- Assist in achieving a satisfactory resolution
Professional Development
- Uphold qualifications to Level 4 or above (ambition for Level 7), with an up-to-date Statement of Professional Standing
- Regular Continuing Professional Development (CPD) to maintain compliance with industry and regulatory requirements
Skills, Experience & Qualifications
- Qualifications: Relevant level 4 or above (with a desire to reach Level 7) and an up-to-date Statement of Professional Standing
- Client-facing experience: Proven ability to manage fee-based client relationships (both new and existing)
- Organisational & communication skills:
- Ability to analyse client information and highlight needs
- Effective communication of holistic financial planning strategies
- Clear and concise explanation of advice processes
- Service culture: Strong ethic of client and customer service with resilience under pressure
- Priority management: Ability to work under pressure and effectively prioritise tasks
- Risk awareness: Experience in operating within a risk management framework, understanding private client business risks
