We are looking for a Financial Reporting Accountant to provide cover across two separate paternity leave periods of approximately 3–4 months each.
The Financial Reporting Accountant will take ownership of all financial reporting deliverables—both internal and external—for their allocated legal entities. Additionally, they’ll support the Sustainability & Financial Reporting Manager with the day-to-day administration of the team. The role involves liaising with other Finance teams, business functions, and external auditors to ensure the financial information produced is fitting for its purpose. The ideal candidate will demonstrate high technical excellence, act as a mentor for junior colleagues, and uphold professional development across the Finance department.
Responsibilities
Internal Reporting

Quarterly Group Reporting: Ownership of actual, forecast, and plan reporting for allocated UK companies to the ultimate parent, Munich Re.

Audit Files:
- Ensure quarterly audit files are prepared, reviewed, and signed off.
- Coordinate audit file creation, ensuring schedules are completed on time and fully referenced to supporting documentation.
- Provide transparent financial information for all general ledger balances.

Financial Due Diligence: Perform financial suitability assessments of coverholders, brokers, and delegated authorities.

Management Information: Prepare tailored financial summaries for management requests or scheduled reviews.

External Reporting

Statutory Accounts:
- Develop financial statements and accompanying narratives for allocated legal entities.
- Liaise with auditors to ensure clearance and sign-off.

Regulatory Compliance:
- Submit financial data required by regulators (FCA, CBI, etc.) including RMA returns and Financial Resilience Surveys.
- Manage other regulatory submissions (e.g., ONS surveys).
Technical Excellence & Organisation

Adhere to quarterly reporting timetables, including meeting deadlines and effective time/stakeholder management.

Evaluate financial information sources, assumptions, and judgment areas.

Process Improvement: Critically assess on-going processes for continued efficiency and engage stakeholders to implement enhancements.

Professional Mentorship: Provide on-the-job training and mentorship to junior team members and broader Finance colleagues.

Flexible Coverage: Provide back-up across allocated Finance team functions as delegated.
Other Responsibilities
- Address ad hoc requests.
- Uphold company procedures and compliance systems.
- Promote ethical standards to ensure best outcomes for customers/policyholders.
Key Skills & Experience Required
- Qualified Accountant Status: ACA / ACCA / CIMA or equivalent.
- Technical Expertise: Sound knowledge of IFRS and UK GAAP. Familiarity with the Group reporting framework.
- Attention to Detail: Excellent precision and accuracy in financial reporting tasks.
- Communication Skills: Ability to simplify complex financial information for diverse stakeholders.
- Self-Management: Capacity for independent work, prioritisation, and high-pressure deadline management.
