Financial Reporting, Planning & Analysis Assistant

Financial Planning and Analysis Assistant – London (Finance)

The Role

The Financial Planning and Analysis Assistant is responsible for preparing monthly, quarterly, and yearly management accounts, serving as the primary point of contact for reporting and ensuring the efficient execution of key month-end processes. The role delivers accurate, timely financial insights and supports data-driven decision-making for the business.

In addition to core reporting duties, the position involves assisting the Financial Analysis and Reporting Manager and Head of Financial Reporting, Planning & Analysis in producing ad-hoc analyses across financial and performance areas. Successful candidates will articulate findings clearly and concisely, providing actionable insights.


Responsibilities

  • Prepares monthly, quarterly, and annual management accounts, including coordinating commentary requirements.
  • Delivers supplementary management accounting information tailored to departmental and user needs.
  • Conducts ad-hoc performance and trend analysis, covering:
    • Variance analysis
    • Costs and income outcomes
    • Profitability drivers
    • Annual survey findings
  • Collaborates closely with Financial Control to reconcile management accounts with financial accounts.
  • Ensures data accuracy and integrity, promoting best practices in using firm systems (e.g., client partner and matter type tracking).

The Team

The Finance department at Saffery is composed of 30 dedicated professionals, specialising in three competencies:

  • Financial Control
  • Financial Operations
  • Financial Reporting, Planning & Analysis (FRP&A)

This is a collaborative, growth-oriented team where people take pride in delivering high-quality work and continually improving their service to the business. Reporting to the FRP&A Manager, this role emphasizes ownership, curiosity, and hands-on engagement.


Key Requirements

  • Part-qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, or CIMA candidate), actively pursuing completion.
  • Advanced Excel skills with experience in financial systems, prioritising accuracy and data consistency.
  • Strong analytical ability—able to decode trends and support impactful financial insights.
  • Prior experience with monthly reporting production, able to take ownership of defined components.
  • Thoroughly organised, with a capacity to manage priorities in a structured environment while meeting deadlines.
  • Proactive collaborator, adept at liaising with stakeholders to gather inputs and ensure reporting success.
