Finance Manager / Senior Financial Accountant – Hodge

We are seeking a Finance Manager / Senior Financial Accountant to join our team, responsible for preparing high-quality Management Accounts and statutory financial statements under FRS 101 for the Group, while providing IFRS technical expertise and delivering concise, high-standard reporting to senior management and the Board.
About the Role
This role will involve leadership in financial reporting, forecasting, and regulatory compliance, ensuring robust financial controls and supporting strategic decision-making within a regulated banking environment.
Essential Requirements
- Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, or equivalent experience).
- Experience preparing statutory accounts under FRS 101 and IFRS, ideally within a financial services environment.
- Strong knowledge of accounting for investments and financial instruments.
- Prior experience with leasing, working with external audits, and dealing with audit firms.
- Technical accounting expertise with the ability to interpret complex accounting standards.
- Strong written communication skills, with experience producing Board-level papers.
- Experience in a regulated banking environment.
Key Responsibilities
📊 Financial Reporting
- Lead the preparation of annual statutory financial statements for The Carlyle Trust (TCT) and investment subsidiaries in compliance with FRS 101 and IFRS standards.
- Finalise the annual statutory financial statements for the Foundation.
- Ensure accurate accounting and disclosure of investment properties, including:
- Impairment assessments
- Interest income recognition
- Effective interest rate calculations
- Maintain robust supporting documentation and audit trails for all financial disclosures.
- Review management account packs for investment properties and the Foundation.
- Lead preparation of the TCT Group Investor Pack, in collaboration with the Head of Finance Business Partnering, to provide meaningful insights to Shareholders and Board.
- Complete FINREP for the Group.

📈 Forecasting & Budgeting
- Manage Budgeting and ad hoc forecasting for TCT & Subsidiaries for the 5-year Operational Plan.
- Prepare the Board Pack with supporting information for approval.
- Liaise with Business Partners to ensure consistent inputs and assumptions.
- Stress-testing scenarios for TCT & Subsidiaries Internal Capital Adequacy Assessment Process (ICAAP).
- Support TCT ICAAP submission with the Regulatory Reporting team, including regulatory-aligned narrative documentation.
💰 Liquidity & Treasury Management
- Help optimise the cash position of the TCT Group through:
- Dividend recommendations and payments post-approval.
- Management of the AJ Bell Corporate dealing account, supporting investments from dividends/withdrawals.
- Facilitate business payments and transactions.
📚 Technical Accounting (IFRS)
- Serve as an IFRS technical expert, providing guidance on:
- Complex accounting issues.
- Impact assessments of new/changed accounting standards.
- Draft technical accounting papers and policy documentation for senior stakeholders.
- Advisor on lending products, financial instruments, and related transactions.

🏛️ Board & Senior Stakeholder Reporting
- Prepare high-quality Board papers and financial reports, presenting key issues, risks, and judgements clearly.
- Simplify and present complex financial information for non-technical audiences.
- Support senior management with insight-driven analysis for strategic decision-making.
- Engage proactively with external auditors on behalf of TCT.
- Provide Tax Advisors with necessary information for annual corporation tax returns.
🛡️ Governance & Financial Controls
- Ensure strong financial reporting controls are in place and functioning effectively.
