Financial Services Lawyer
About the Role
We are currently seeking Financial Services Lawyers to work with a variety of Axiom clients across banking, fintech, payments, asset management, insurance, investment, consumer finance, and other regulated financial services sectors, supporting a broad range of commercial, regulatory, product, governance, and advisory matters.
Responsibilities
- Provide practical, commercially focused legal advice on financial services matters, including regulatory compliance, commercial contracts, product support, governance, risk management, customer-facing documentation, and business-as-usual legal advisory work.
- Advise legal, compliance, risk, product, commercial, operations, procurement, and senior business stakeholders on matters affecting regulated financial services businesses, including banking, fintech, payments, consumer credit, lending, funds, asset management, insurance, and investment services.
- Draft, review, and negotiate a broad range of financial services and commercial documentation, including client terms, supplier agreements, outsourcing arrangements, technology contracts, distribution agreements, policies, procedures, and regulatory documentation.
- Support cross-functional projects involving regulatory change, product launches, customer journeys, operational resilience, financial promotions, complaints, governance frameworks, third-party risk, and engagement with internal or external stakeholders.
Minimum Qualifications
- Qualified lawyer eligible to practise in the UK, or equivalent overseas qualification with strong financial services, commercial, regulatory, banking, fintech, payments, asset management, insurance, or consumer finance experience.
- Experience advising financial institutions, fintechs, regulated businesses, in-house legal teams, or senior stakeholders on commercial, regulatory, product, governance, risk, or business-as-usual legal matters.
- Strong drafting, review, negotiation, and advisory experience across commercial contracts, financial services documentation, customer terms, supplier arrangements, outsourcing, technology agreements, policies, or regulatory materials.
- Excellent commercial awareness, legal judgment, stakeholder management, communication, drafting, and analytical skills, with the ability to deliver pragmatic, business-focused advice in fast-paced regulated environments.
