As a Managing Consultant in the Regulatory Practice of Financial Services, you will:

  • Lead and manage teams in collaboration with Partners, Directors, and Principal/Senior Consultants to ensure high-quality, timely delivery of client projects.
  • Support business development, including writing proposals, delivering presentations, and producing thought leadership.
  • Line manage a team, fostering career growth while coordinating project objectives.
  • Adapt to international engagements with flexibility regarding meeting coverage outside standard working hours.

Responsibilities

You will make a meaningful impact by:

  • Directly managing a Financial Services team, ensuring adherence to firm standards while delivering on client requirements.
  • Overseeing client portfolios for strategic solutions, (SYSC, PRIN, Consumer Duty, cosmetic rulebook policies), from strategy documentation to costed proposals.
  • Ensuring operational excellence—streamlining client programmes, optimising team scheduling, and driving accountability across projects.
  • Enforcing strict financial controls, monitoring billing performance and troubleshooting adherence gaps.
  • Upholding team culture, handling HR matters, including appraisals, recruitment, welfare and health & safety.
  • Building client relationships beyond existing projects, expanding opportunities with potential partners and transferable services.

Key Areas of Responsibility

✔ Ensuring advice consistency across all stakeholders: FIN, VFM, FENAT, IAAP, Markets and Distribution ✔ Fostering compliance excellence, working with strategic partners as a face for client relationships. ✔ Steering all regulatory personnel directors towards optimal outcomes across regulatory activities. ✔ Overseeing flexibility in team engagement to support client needs for timely regulatory execution.

Key Technical Requirements

🔹 Regulatory mastery: In-depth knowledge of FCA regulation (including SYSC, PRIN (with Consumer Duty focus), COBS, MCOB, ICOBS, CONC, DISP and financial crime regulations)—applying practical standards across assessments and solutions. 🔹 Standards-aligned experience: Ability to interpret and apply regulatory frameworks, execute monitoring tools (GAP analysis, remediation recommendations, Skilled Person reviews), and enhance controls for FCA compliance. 🔹 Risk management: Aligning with strategic priorities—honing theories into actionable commercial advice tailored to risk. 🔹 Horizon scanning & advisory: Anticipating regulatory trends and advising on industries such as lending, banking & asset management, ensuring proportionate compliance. 🔹 Prior emphasis on Banking, Securities, Markets & Distribution for deeper problem-solving.
