Job Details
Location: York County – Wells, ME 04090 Position Type: Part-Time (20–24 hours/week, on-site) Education: 4-Year Degree Compensation: $21–$23/hour (commensurate with experience)
The position is eligible for prorated benefits, including participation in the Maine Public Employees Retirement System (MPERS).
About the Role
York County Community College (YCCC), a dynamic institution with over 30 years of impact, is seeking a Financial Services Specialist to join our Finance team.
Reporting to the Director of Finance, this role supports Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, student accounts, and general financial operations. The Financial Services Specialist ensures accuracy, compliance, and efficiency in processing financial transactions while supporting daily departmental functions.
Key responsibilities include:
- Coordinating with vendors and internal teams to streamline purchasing and procurement.
- Managing student billing, payments, and financial record-keeping.
- Participating in month-end and year-end closing processes.

Responsibilities

Invoice & Payment Processing:
- Process invoices with accurate coding, documentation, and payment scheduling.
- Manage Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) transactions.
- Respond to inquiries from vendors and departments regarding payments/purchases.

Student Financial Services:
- Handle billing, payment processing, refunds, and collections for student accounts.
- Support receivables tracking, dispute resolution, and financial record maintenance.

Procurement & Review Operations:
- Assist with requisitions, quotes, and purchase order (PO) processing.
- Reconcile financial activity and maintain compliance with MCCS and YCCC policies.

Administrative & Collaborative Support:
- Provide general assistance to the Finance team, including report generation.
- Participate in departmental projects and process improvement initiatives.
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business, or a related field.
- Up to two years of relevant experience in accounting, finance, or business operations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and general computer applications.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and internal controls.
- Exceptional communication and teamwork skills for collaboration with diverse stakeholders.

Desired Qualifications
- Experience in higher education or public sector finance.
- Familiarity with automated accounting systems (e.g., Jenzabar).
- Prior experience in accounts payable, receivable, or procurement operations.
