Location: York County - Wells, ME 04090 | Position Type: Part-Time (20–24 hrs/week) Education: Bachelor’s degree (accounting, finance, business, or related field)


About the Role

York County Community College (YCCC), a dynamic institution with 30+ years of transformative impact in York County, seeks a Financial Services Specialist to join its Finance team.

Reporting to the Director of Finance, this part-time, on-site role ensures accurate and timely processing of financial operations, including:

  • Accounts Payable & Receivable
  • Student accounts
  • Invoice processing & financial compliance

The Financial Services Specialist collaborates with internal teams, students, and external vendors to support strong financial processes that drive student success and institutional efficiency. This position aligns with YCCC’s Mission, Vision, Purpose (MVP) and the One College approach.

Responsibilities

Core Duties

  • Process invoices & ensure proper coding, documentation, and timely payment via Accounts Payable & Receivable (AP/AR) systems
  • Address vendor/internal inquiries regarding payments, purchasing, and financial procedures
  • Support student accounts with:
    • Billing, receivables, payment processing, refunds, and collections
  • Assist with deposit preparation, account reconciliation, and financial reporting
  • Review requisitions, obtain quotes, and aid in purchase order processing & procurement activities
  • Resolve discrepancies with vendors and internal departments to ensure delivery timeliness
  • Maintain accurate financial records per MCCS & YCCC policies
  • Contribute to month-end & fiscal year-end closing processes
  • Provide administrative & operational support to the Finance team
  • Participate in departmental projects & continuous improvement initiatives

Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

✅ Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business, or a related field ✅ Up to 2 years of relevant experience in accounting, finance, or business operations ✅ Proficiency in:

  • Accounting principles & internal controls
  • Microsoft Excel & general computer applications ✅ Strong interpersonal & communication skills for collaborative work with diverse stakeholders

** Preferred Experience**

🔟 Higher education or public sector finance experience 🔹 Familiarity with automated accounting systems (e.g., Jenzabar) 🔹 Background in Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, or procurement processes
