Jewellery Product Assessor (Late Shift) – Vintage Cash Cow

Department: Marketplace

Location: Overland Park, Morley

Compensation: £26,250 – £28,000 per year (plus shift allowance)


About the Team

Vintage Cash Cow operates as a unique platform, allowing customers to sell their items quickly and conveniently. Our Overland Park hub serves as the heart of operations, combining the energy of a busy warehouse with the expertise of a diverse team dedicated to valuing and processing high-value items.

You’ll join our passionate Gold Team, which specialises in auctioning and trading gold, fine jewellery, and high-value vintage pieces. This multi-departmental collaboration ensures seamless movement of stock from initial valuation to auction.

Every box holds discovery—sometimes treasures hidden within worn-out design or sentimental worth within gems and gold. Working here means contributing to the thrilling journey of uncovering and preserving history-driven jewellery.


Working Pattern

  • Shift Hours: 2:00 PM – 10:00 PM (Late Shift)
  • Working Days: Monday to Friday
  • Contracted Hours: 37.5 hours per week (plus 30 minutes unpaid break daily)
  • Compensation: £26,250 + shift allowance

About The Role

As a Jewellery Product Assessor, you’ll play a pivotal role in assessing, processing, and preparing fine jewellery and precious metals for auction and trade sale. This is ideal for individuals with previous experience in:

  • Retail jewellery (e.g., Pandora, high-street jewellers)
  • Bench jewellery work
  • Fine jewellery valuation/auction practices

Your duties will include:

  • Evaluating high-value antique, vintage, and collectible pieces
  • Carefully breaking down jewellery, carefully removing stones and separating gold components
  • Validating quality, purity, and origin using tools like XRF testing (training provided)
  • Curating accurate, details-rich auction lots using proprietary tools
  • Ensuring precision in submissions—weights, documentation, and compliance standards

Your collaborative approach will significantly impact inventory accuracy and auction performance.


Key Responsibilities

  • Assess & catalogue high-value jewellery with precise identification of fine/collectible items.
  • Dismantle & sort jewellery, separating solid gold scrap while extracting gemstones safely.
  • Use XRF testing to accuracy determine metal purity, grading by carat, metal stamps.
  • Weigh and package pure gold securely, adhering to strict security protocols.
  • Create detailed auction lots meeting KPI targets, documenting material, values with accurate sales data.
  • Maintain detailed records—weights, components, stock IDs—ensuring inventory accuracy.
  • Participate in quality checks, reclaiming inaccuracies to guarantee security and regulations compliance.

Skills, Knowledge & Expertise

Highly Desirable: ✅ Experience in retail or bench jewellery ✅ Ability to identify halmarks, carats, and metal purity visual cues ✅ Strong attention to detail, with Advanced focus on valuable items ✅ Confidence working with numbers, weights, and Excel/stock management systems

Important (Trainable): ⚠ Familiarity with XRF machines for purity testing. ⚠ Foundation knowledge in vintage/antique appreciation and grading. ⚠ Experience applying security protocols for high-value assets.


Growing Your Career

  • Learn essential processes to designate values, track components, and split lots.
  • Become confident at provenance authenticity and heritage research.

Upon mastering bases, you’ll contribute significantly towards: ✔ Improving internal recording for recurring accuracy in valuations. ✔ Efficient workload adjustments to align with deadlines and KPIs. ✔ Suggesting innovative improvements to strengthen gold handling and auction prep workflows.
