About Synyega
Synyega is an independent technology-spend consultancy. We help organisations make better technology decisions, improving visibility, governance and control across software, cloud, AI and technology spend. We are independent by design: we do not profit from increased consumption or vendor relationships, and we hold that technology decisions should serve the business, not the vendor.
We work across FinOps, ITAM/SAM, GreenOps, and AI cost management as facets of one problem: helping clients make defensible technology decisions.
Role purpose
We are hiring a FinOps Consultant to join our delivery team, working on cost governance engagements across Azure and AWS. This is a client-facing role with a genuine mix of hands-on technical delivery and consulting responsibility: you will be expected to analyse cost data, build recommendations, and present them credibly to client stakeholders, not just produce the underlying numbers. A consultant who can run a FinOps workstream largely unsupervised, and who can hold an independent, evidence-based position with a client even when it is not the easiest or most vendor-convenient answer.
Key responsibilities
- Analyse Azure and AWS cost and usage data to identify optimisation opportunities (rightsizing, commitment-based discounting, waste elimination).
- Build and maintain cost allocation, tagging and showback/chargeback models for client engagements.
- Model commitment coverage and utilisation (Reserved Instances, Savings Plans, Azure Hybrid Benefit) and recommend purchasing strategy.
- Use Cloudability or equivalent FinOps tooling to build dashboards and reporting for clients.
- Facilitate client workshops and present findings and recommendations to technical and commercial stakeholders.
- Produce client-ready written analysis and recommendations, not just raw data outputs.
- Work alongside senior consultants on larger engagements and lead smaller workstreams independently.
- Contribute to Synyega's FinOps practice development (templates, playbooks, internal knowledge).

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
