Fire Alarm Engineer – Permanent Role at Linaker

About the Role

Linaker is now seeking a Fire Alarm Engineer to join our growing team permanently.

We are looking for a skilled and motivated Fire Alarm Service Engineer with strong technical expertise to help maintain and repair fire alarm systems for our commercial clients.


Key Responsibilities

  • Servicing & maintenance: Carry out routine servicing, maintenance, and fault-finding on fire alarm systems across various commercial sites, ensuring legislation compliance and system optimisation.
  • Fault resolution: Quickly diagnose and repair faults efficiently to minimise client downtime.
  • Technical expertise: Work confidently across fire alarm systems: Kentec, C-Tec, and Advanced panels.
  • Inspections & compliance: Conduct inspections, testing, and maintenance of fire extinguishers while adhering to relevant standards (e.g., BS 5839).
  • Documentation: Ensure accurate, detailed service reports, meeting regulatory needs.
  • Customer support: Provide technical advice to clients on system optimisation and safety enhancements.
  • Safety advocacy: Uphold fire safety regulations and company procedures at all times.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Minimum 2 years as a Fire Alarm Service Engineer.
  • Comprehensive understanding of BS 5839 and other fire safety standards.
  • Hands-on proficiency with Kentec, C-Tec, and Advanced fire alarm systems.
  • Independent fault diagnosis and repair reliable, working with focus and precision.
  • Experience servicing and maintaining fire extinguishers.
  • Valid UK driving licence.
  • Strong communication & customer-centric skills.

Where desirable but not essential:

  • Security systems knowledge (intruder alarms, CCTV, access control) is a plus.
  • FIA training or equivalent industry certification.
