About the Role
This is a full-time, on-site Fire and Security Technician position based in Belfast.
As part of the team, you will:
- Install, commission, maintain, and repair fire detection systems, alarm systems, and security equipment at client sites.
- Inspect, test, and troubleshoot installed systems, diagnosing faults and resolving technical issues.
- Ensure all work adheres to relevant standards and UK/Irish regulations.
- Complete accurate service reports and liaise with clients to explain findings and recommend safety improvements.
- Support larger projects by collaborating with colleagues and assisting with system upgrades and enhancements.
- Contribute to improving safety and security solutions for customers.
The role requires a mix of hands-on technical work and customer communication, making both technical proficiency and interpersonal skills essential.

Key Responsibilities

Installation & Commissioning
- Fit new fire alarms, detection systems, and security equipment in compliance with industry regulations.
- Ensure fully functional, compliant systems are delivered at every site.

Maintenance & Fault Diagnosis
- Conduct routine inspections, tests, and repairs on existing systems.
- Diagnose faults and resolve technical issues efficiently.

Compliance & Documentation
- Maintain thorough and accurate service records.
- Confirm all work meets regulatory standards, SSAIB, BAFE, and PSA Ireland guidelines.

Client Interaction
- Communicate clearly with clients, explaining system performance and recommendations.
- Provide clear documentation to ensure customer safety and understanding.

Technical Support & Collaboration
- Assist in system upgrades and upgrades across multiple client sites.
- Work effectively with colleagues on larger projects and hybrid installations.
Requirements & Qualifications
Essential Experience & Skills
- Technical troubleshooting expertise in fire and security systems, including fault-finding and diagnostics.
- Working knowledge of alarm systems and security equipment (installation, testing, and maintenance).
- Understanding of network security and cybersecurity principles for connected systems.
- Occupational health and safety awareness, with strong practice in on-site safety.
- Proficiency in reading technical diagrams and using diagnostic test equipment.
- Ability to complete clear and detailed service documentation.
- Excellent communication skills to liaise with clients, colleagues, and senior team members.
- Reliability and adaptability for rapid-response client visits and sitework.
- Valid full UK driver’s licence with flexibility to travel across Belfast and surrounding areas.

Preferred Qualifications
- Technical qualifications or apprenticeships in:
- Electrical/electronic systems
- Fire/security technology
- Related engineering disciplines
- Experience in fire and security technician roles or similar maintenance/technical positions.
- Familiarity with industry certifications (e.g., SSAIB, BAFE, PSA).
Work Environment
- Based in Belfast, with on-site visits nationwide (Geographical travel primarily within Belfast & Belfast regions).
- Physical demands: Kneeling, crouching, lifting equipment, sometimes seating in immobile environments.
- Operating schedules: On-call availability for urgent repairs/emergencies (working hours may include evenings/weekends with fair notice).
