Role Overview
The Fire Application Engineering Specialist, based in the United Kingdom & Continental Europe, supports all regions through the Regional Sales Enablement Center (RSEC) by providing:
- Technical expertise
- Proposal development
- Training for Armstrong Fire solutions
This role ensures Fire products are integrated into customer discussions and project opportunities across the region. Working closely with:
- Fire Offering Management
- Sales Management
- Aftermarket
- Service & Engineering teams
To support strategy execution, business growth in the Fire sector and enable partners/contractors through technical support & training.
This is an on-site role with occasional travel requirements within the UK and Europe.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Application Support
- Evaluate customer enquiries, specifications, and drawings to determine the best Armstrong Fire solutions.
- Provide application engineering support to sales teams to ensure Fire solutions are incorporated into project discussions.
- Selects appropriate products and supports solution development for fire pump systems and packages.

Proposal Development
- Develops, prepares, and presents technical proposals that communicate the value of Armstrong Fire solutions.
- Provides pre-sales technical support by gathering:
- Documentation
- Drawings
- Calculations
- Other technical information
Sales Enablement & Strategy
- Works with Fire Offering Management to execute strategies that grow the Fire business regionally.
- Supports regional sales teams with:
- Technical insights & proposal reviews
- Solution positioning
- Coordinates communication between:
- Client queries
- External & internal sales
- Fire offering management
- Advises and routes technical inquiries received from sales managers/clients.
Agent Support & Opportunity Development
- Provides technical and proposal support to Armstrong agents on fire-related projects.
- Identifies and brings forward strategic fire opportunities from agents for:
- Solution development
- Technical evaluation
- Proposal preparation
- Strengthens Armstrong’s position on key fire projects with agents and internal teams.
Training & Knowledge Sharing
- Delivers training sessions for:
- Armstrong sales teams
- Service teams
- Service partners
- Sprinkler contractors
- Supports the development and refinement of:
- Training materials
- Technical curriculum for Fire Solutions
- Supports factory visits, highlighting:
- Product benefits
- Production quality
- Attends exhibitions and trade shows in the designated region.

What We’re Looking For
Education & Experience
- Degree or diploma in:
- Mechanical Engineering
- Electrical Engineering
- Engineering Technology
- Equivalent industry experience also considered.
- 5+ years of experience working with:
- Automatic fire sprinkler systems
- Fire pumps
- OR
- 5+ years in application engineering / internal technical sales and service support.
Technical Knowledge (Essential)
- In-depth understanding of:
- Pump systems & pump curves
- Hydraulic principles
- Familiarity with fire standards & codes:
- BS, EN, LPC, NFPA, and FM
- Experience reviewing:
- Technical drawings
- Datasheets & specifications
- Strong background in application engineering with:
- Proven solution concepts
- Ability to perform:
- Quick flow/pressure calculations & unit conversions
- Experience with at least one pump/equipment selection software.
- Comprehensive knowledge of:
- Diesel & electric drives (motors)
Skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to develop and deliver technical proposals & presentations.
- Excellent communication & collaboration skills.
- Commercial acumen, understanding product & project value.
- Precision-focused with an eye for technical details.
- Self-motivated, comfortable working in:
- On-site environments
- Cross-functional teams
- Driving license advantageous but not mandatory.
