Join our Health, Safety & Fire Team and help keep colleagues, passengers, and contractors safe across Birmingham Airport. You’ll support fire safety compliance, provide expert guidance, and play a key role in ensuring our Capital Investment Programme meets Building Regulations and the Fire Safety Order. This role is central to maintaining the airport’s Golden Thread of safety information and driving a positive fire safety culture.

Key Responsibilities

  • Fire safety advice — Provide competent, practical guidance across diverse hazards, ensuring risks are effectively controlled.
  • Fire safety documentation — Develop, review, and maintain fire policies, processes, and records, with emphasis on the Golden Thread and Regulation 38.
  • Incident investigation — Support investigations into accidents, incidents, and near-misses, identifying corrective actions and sharing lessons learned.
  • Fire risk assessments — Undertake and review assessments, ensuring actions are allocated and completed promptly.
  • Fire inspections & audits — Conduct inspections, monitor compliance, and review fire safety arrangements across the airport.
  • Construction & project support — Lead on fire safety compliance for development projects, advising contractors and project teams on regulatory duties.

  • Fire safety experience — Demonstrable experience in a fire safety role.
  • Fire safety qualification — Level 4 Fire Safety qualification (or equivalent).
  • Fire risk assessment certification — Professionally certified qualification in fire risk assessment.
  • Construction fire safety — Experience managing fire safety within construction environments.
  • Legislation knowledge — Strong understanding of key fire legislation including the Fire Safety Order, Building Regulations, BS 9999, and the Building Safety Act.
  • Technical competency — Ability to interpret drawings, conduct inspections, complete audits, and provide targeted fire safety advice.
