Fire Damper Technician

Fire Damper Technician (Permanent) – Gateshead, North East

About the Role

A growing business is seeking an experienced Fire Damper Technician to join their team on a temporary-to-permanent basis. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled professional with expertise in fire damper inspection, testing, maintenance, remedial work, and replacement.

Success in this role will lead to a permanent employment offer following a qualifying period.

Salary & Benefits

  • Salary: £18.00 – £25.00 per hour (PAYE only), based on experience
  • Hours: Monday to Friday (start between 07:00–07:30)
  • Opportunity: Temporary → permanent role
  • Training & Development: Ongoing support
  • Variety: Work across commercial and industrial sites

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will handle:

  • Fire damper inspections and drop testing
  • Identifying defective or non-compliant dampers
  • Completing detailed compliance reports and documentation
  • Conducting remedial works (e.g., repairs, component replacements)
  • Replacing fire dampers as required
  • Ensuring health and safety compliance in all work
  • Professional liaison with clients and site teams

Candidate Requirements

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Hands-on experience with fire dampers and HVAC systems
  • Proven expertise in fire damper inspections and drop testing
  • Strong understanding of fire safety regulations and compliance standards
  • Ability to produce accurate, detailed reports and record-keeping
  • Strong communication and problem-solving abilities

Preferred Qualifications & Certifications

  • CSCS Card (advantageous)
  • Relevant fire damper inspection/testing qualifications (desirable)
  • PASMA and IPAF experience (beneficial)

✔ Willingness to travel across the UK for site assignments ✔ Flexibility to work away from home on occasion ✔ Occasional out-of-hours/weekend work may be required to meet client demands
