The Role: Fire Door Estimator
This is a rare opportunity to join Ventro Group’s Passive Fire Division at a pivotal growth phase and play a key role in securing work for our delivery teams and clients.
As our Fire Door Estimator, you will lead our preconstruction capability, producing accurate, competitive, and compliant cost estimates for passive fire protection projects across the UK. Reporting to the Sales Manager, you will collaborate closely with sales, engineering, and project delivery teams.
Duties & Responsibilities
You will be expected to:
- Take ownership of detailed cost estimates for fire doors, fire stopping, compartmentation, and associated passive fire systems
- Analyze drawings, specifications, and technical documents to build accurate pricing submissions
- Support the sales team in generating quotations and tender submissions while working with suppliers to secure competitive pricing
- Identify technical risks, scope gaps, and compliance issues before complications arise on-site
- Attend site surveys as required, ensuring your estimates reflect real-world conditions

What We’re Looking For

Skills
- Strong estimating and cost modelling ability—numerical precision and analytical thinking
- Proficiency in Excel and estimating software
- Expertise in reading architectural drawings and specifications
- Exceptional time management and organizational skills for multi-project tender pipelines
- Ability to communicate complex technical details clearly to stakeholders
Knowledge
- Deep understanding of passive fire protection—fire stopping, compartmentation, fire doors, and coatings
- Familiarity with Building Regulations Part B and relevant British Standards
- Knowledge of construction pricing structures (labour, materials, subcontractors)
- Advantage: Experience with third-party certification schemes (e.g., FIRAS, BM TRADA)
- Broad knowledge of construction contracts and tendering processes
Experience
- Proven estimator with a track record of accurate, competitive bids in construction
- Exposure to passive fire protection or fire stopping is ideal
- Experience working directly from drawings, specifications, and tender packages under commercial deadlines
- Preferred: Conducting site surveys and managing cross-functional collaboration between sales, delivery teams, and tender pipelines
