Fire Engineer

The Building Safety Consultancy is a UK-based firm specialising in tailored health, safety, fire protection, and asbestos services for a wide range of organisations.

The consultancy supports clients with fire risk assessments, asbestos surveys, health and safety advice, compliance audits, and broader risk assessments. Its practical, client-focused approach is designed to help businesses protect people, property, and reputation in a clear and pragmatic way.

The Building Safety Consultancy works closely with clients to meet all relevant legal requirements while providing ongoing expert guidance and support.

Role Description

The Fire Engineer role is a full-time hybrid position based in Great Malvern, and on site. In this role, the Fire Engineer will carry out fire risk assessments, develop fire safety strategies, and design or review fire protection solutions for client buildings.

Typical tasks include assessing existing fire suppression and detection systems, reviewing life safety provisions, and preparing clear technical reports and recommendations.

The Fire Engineer will collaborate with clients, regulators, and internal colleagues to support compliance audits, advise on safety engineering measures, and contribute to the continuous improvement of fire safety practices. The role also involves staying current with relevant legislation, standards, and best practices to support effective, compliant fire protection solutions.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated skills in Fire Protection Engineering and Safety Engineering, with the ability to design, review, and optimise fire protection solutions.
  • Strong knowledge of Fire Safety and Life Safety principles, including evacuation strategies, occupant safety, and regulatory requirements.
  • Experience working with Fire Suppression Systems, including assessment, specification, and performance evaluation.
  • Relevant degree or professional qualification in fire engineering, building services, safety engineering, or a closely related discipline.
  • Understanding of UK fire safety legislation, building regulations, and industry standards.
  • Proven ability to produce clear technical reports, communicate complex concepts to non-specialists, and engage effectively with clients and stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and a methodical approach to risk assessment.
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to client sites where required.
