Key Responsibilities
Fire Engineer
Deliver high-quality fire safety design as part of multidisciplinary projects:
- Prepare strategies, calculations, reports, and fire safety drawings compliant with UK regulations.
- Apply fire modelling (evacuation, smoke simulation, structural fire) to inform design decisions.
- Client-facing representation: Attend design stages (workshops, site visits, reviews) and present progress.
- Quality assurance: Travel domestically/releases globally to validate designs/work on-site.
Senior Fire Engineer
Lead large-scale projects and develop careers:
- Synt ans technical delivery, mentor teams, and liaise with clients.
- Supervise and sign-off junior engineers’ work; enforce industry standards.
- Manage stakeholder expectations, risks, and project workflows.
- Represent Hoare Lea in business development (repeat clients, tenders).
Eligibility & Qualifications
- Experience: Proven consultancy expertise in fire engineering or related safety roles.
- Education: Degree (or equivalent) in Engineering, Building Services, Physics, Mathematics, or Architecture.
- Technical skills:
- Proficiency in fire modelling software (e.g., FDS, SFPE).
- Strong knowledge of UK fire safety standards (BS codes, BDA guidance).

Useful (Not Mandatory)
- Chartered status (CEng) or active professional membership (IFE, SFPE).
- Site inspections and stakeholder management experience.
- Working knowledge of residential, healthcare, or timber structures (where relevant).
