About the role

Exciting opportunities are available for Fire Engineers across levels (Engineer to Associate Director) to join our offices in:

  • Bristol
  • Glasgow
  • London
  • Manchester

    • Fire testing (e.g., leading the design and implementation of two of the world’s largest cross-laminated timber – CLT – compartment fire tests in France)

Special emphasis is placed on guiding employees towards achieving Chartered Engineer status:

We actively contribute to key organisations, including:

  • Society for Fire Protection Engineers (SFPE)
  • Smoke Control Association
  • BSI Group
  • Institution of Fire Engineers

Primary Responsibilities:

You will work collaboratively within Hoare Lea’s multi-disciplinary team while maintaining long-term client relationships.

Duties include:

  • Active participation in design team meetings, design workshops, client meetings, and site meetings
  • Traveling to clients or projects in the UK and occasionally internationally, based on project prerequisites
  • Utilising software analysis tools, such as:
    • Evacuation modellers
    • Smoke analysis tools
    • Heat radiation software
    • Structural fire modelling tools
  • Producing design deliverables including:
    • Detailed specifications
    • Technical drawings
    • Schedules
  • Regular communication with internal and external stakeholders
  • Ensuring an effective, collaborative, and timely approach to project delivery
  • Supporting logistical and operational tasks, including:
    • Timely invoicing
    • Debt chasing
    • Management of work-in-progress (WIP) tracking
    • Forward workload/resource planning for projects
  • Mentoring and supporting upcoming talent:
    • Providing guidance to apprentices
    • Assisting graduates

About you

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Previous internship, graduate-level or professional role within a fire engineering consultancy required (for the given level).
  • Relevant degree or equivalent academic qualification in:
    • Engineering
    • Building services
    • Mathematics
    • Architecture
    • Physics
  • Technical knowledge in fire safety design and a keen interest in fire engineering
  • Practical proficiency with fire modelling software tools

Soft Skills & Commitments:

  • IT literate with working familiarity of fire software
  • Project-based individuals who:
    • Thrive in collaborative environments
    • Deliver quality outputs under strict 時間 and project deadlines
  • Must have strong organisational and planning capabilities
  • Chartered Engineer status is a requirement for all roles above the Associate Director level
