About The Role

Job Description

Ready to help shape the fire safety foundations of the first nuclear power station built in a generation? Do you thrive on influencing operational readiness, working with stakeholders, and creating safer environments in complex, highly regulated industries?

At EDF, Success is Personal. As a Fire Safety Subject Matter Expert, you'll help create the standards, systems, and culture that support safe operations at Hinkley Point C while developing a career that's unique to you.

The Opportunity

As a Fire Safety Subject Matter Expert (SME), you'll play a vital role in preparing Hinkley Point C for safe and successful operations. Working within the Commissioning and Operations programme, you'll help establish fire safety management arrangements, governance, and operational readiness activities that support one of the UK's most significant energy projects and EDF's journey towards An Electric Britain.

You'll join us on a salary starting of £67,000 per annum. This is an onsite role based at #HinkleyPointC, #Bridgwater, where you'll work closely with operational, engineering, and regulatory stakeholders to support startup readiness and long-term compliance.

This is an opportunity to influence how fire safety is embedded across a new nuclear power station. From supporting WANO readiness activities and fire prevention programmes to developing operational documentation, fire protection arrangements, and emergency response planning, your expertise will help shape the future operation of the station.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
