Job Overview
- To maintain accurate records of Fire Safety training
- Design, develop, prepare and deliver a wide range of fire safety training to all staff throughout the organisation specific to their individual need and departmental requirements, in line the with the Training Needs Analysis
- Record attendees, feedback information and outcomes on the NBT systems
- Organise training dates, times and locations with all wards and departments to ensure relevant fire safety training is delivered to all staff
- Support wards and departments to carry out Fire Safety drills
- To provide Fire Safety advice on training as directed
Main duties of the job
- Responsible for developing Fire Safety training sessions for all staff, at all levels and locations of the Trust
- Prepare and deliver training in line with the Trust's Training Needs Analysis and Matrix including:
- Fire Warden
- Evacuation including use of equipment
- Response team
- Emergency evacuation drills
along with other relevant courses including bespoke training for individuals based on their work environment
- Provide specialist training where patient evacuation plans and PEEPs are needed to enable safe evacuation
- Visit all NBT premises and satellite sites to deliver training
- Ensure training content is relevant and up to date with the latest legislation and guidance.

Detailed Job Description And Main Responsibilities
- Train appropriate staff in the safe use of firefighting equipment, emergency medical gas shutdown and the deployment / use of evacuation equipment where required
- Work with local managers and the EPPR Team to provide realistic scenario training (fire drills and tabletop exercises) to test fire, contingency planning and resilience arrangements
- Ensure all relevant training is conducted in accordance with training guidance in HTM 05-01 ' Managing Healthcare Fire safety', the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 and the Health & Safety at Work Act and associated legislation
- Work proactively with the Fire Safety Team and Senior Managers to plan complex activities or programmes such as fire drills, tabletop evacuations exercises and building evacuations. This will require the formulation and adjustment of strategies across the organisation
- Deliver presentations in a clear and concise manner in both formal and informal training settings in order to ensure that the key points are clearly understood by the participants
- Demonstrate empathy and excellent communication skills
- Undertake daily administration duties including confident use of computers, including competent use of common applications such as Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and web-based systems
- Use initiative to prioritise own workload, exercising discretion as to the degree of urgency, importance and confidentiality
- The role will require occasional exposure to distressing or emotional circumstances as a result of reading incident reports, participating in emergency evacuations drills and ensuring the organisation is resilient in the event of emergencies
- Produce data and reports to be shared with the Fire Safety Team and used for meetings, reports etc.

- Certification in Fire Safety or equivalent level of experience within a fire safety role.

- Ability to analyse Fire drawings to aid the development of training
