Fire & Security Engineer – Hybrid Role (London Area, UK)

Big Brother Fire & Security is a leading UK provider of integrated fire and security solutions for commercial, industrial, and public sector properties. We hold NSI Gold and BAFE accreditations, ensuring delivery of systems to the highest standards of safety, reliability, and compliance. Our teams design, install, and maintain life safety systems—including fire alarms, AOV (Automatic Operated Valves), aspirating detection, evacuation, and refuge systems—as well as passive fire protection.
We also deliver comprehensive security services:

- Intruder detection
- Data services
- 24/7 monitoring

Role Overview
This is a full-time hybrid role for a Fire & Security Engineer, based in the London Area, United Kingdom, with some work-from-home flexibility. This position offers modern flexibility while maintaining robust field-based responsibilities and collaborative project work.
The Fire & Security Engineer will:
- Install, commission, test, and maintain fire alarm, life safety, and security systems, in full compliance with standards, regulations, and company procedures.
- Conduct site surveys and troubleshooting in commercial and industrial environments.
- Perform planned and reactive maintenance, documenting all findings, reports, and certifications.
- Configure and integrate systems such as:
- Fire detection (including aspirating technology)
- AOV (Automatic Operated Valves)
- CCTV
- Access control
- Intruder alarms
- Monitoring solutions
- Work closely with project managers, coordinators, and engineering teams to deliver projects on time.
- Provide technical guidance to customers on system operation and best practices.
- Ensure strict adherence to UK health and safety regulations.
- Rotate on an **out-of-hours call-out **·as required, balancing maintenance demands.
- Identify opportunities for system improvements and upgrades.

Qualifications & Experience
Technical Foundation:
- Practical experience implementing and maintaining safety-critical systems in commercial or industrial settings.
- Hands-on expertise with:
- Fire alarm systems
- Aspirating detection
- AOV (Automatic Operated Valves)
- Emergency voice communication platforms
- Relevant manufacturer training is a strong advantage.

Regulatory Compliance:
- Depth of knowledge in applying UK standards and regulations: :: BS 5839 (Fire detection and alarm systems) :: BS 6266 :: NSI/BAFE accreditation requirements

- Understanding of application security when configuring networked fire and security systems, control software, and configuration tools.

- Data protection principles
- Secure handling of customer information

Technical Proficiency:
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings with accuracy.
- Experience with commissioning project documentation and system certifications.
