Role Description
This full-time, on-site Fire & Security Engineer role is based in Greenock and involves installing, commissioning, and maintaining fire alarm, intruder alarm, CCTV, and access control systems in commercial and residential settings. The engineer will carry out routine servicing, fault finding, and repair work, ensuring all systems operate safely and in line with relevant regulations and industry standards. The role includes conducting site surveys, preparing technical reports, and providing clear guidance to clients on system operation and best practices. The engineer will collaborate with colleagues and contractors, complete accurate documentation, and adhere to health and safety procedures while meeting project deadlines and service-level commitments.

- Candidates should possess strong Security Engineering and Information Security skills for designing, implementing, and maintaining secure fire and security systems.
- Candidates should possess solid Network Security and Cybersecurity skills for configuring and protecting networked security devices and monitoring systems.
- Candidates should possess Application Security skills for securing software-based control panels, monitoring tools, and integrated security applications.
- Relevant experience with fire alarms, intruder alarms, CCTV, and access control systems, including installation, commissioning, and maintenance.
- Good understanding of applicable standards and regulations (e.g., fire safety regulations, BS/EN standards) and strong commitment to health and safety best practices.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and manuals, diagnose faults systematically, and document work clearly and accurately.
- Effective communication and customer service skills, with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team on-site.
- Relevant technical qualification or apprenticeship in electrical, electronic, or security systems engineering; industry certifications are advantageous.
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel locally for site visits and call-outs, as required.
