Deliver Expert Surveying Across Fire & Security
As a Fire & Security Surveyor at Mitie, you will be a key member of our field-based surveying team, supporting key and national account clients as well as the sales function. Working remotely and autonomously, you will travel to client sites to survey, estimate, design, and produce fully costed quotations — complete with technical specifications and drawings — for a range of fire and security systems, ensuring full compliance with relevant industry standards.

Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities
Attend client sites to carry out detailed surveys for fire detection, intruder alarm, CCTV, access control, and other security systems. Produce accurate estimates, designs, and fully costed quotations in line with client requirements, contractual obligations, and industry standards. Prepare technical specifications and system drawings to accompany quotations. Manage client expectations, ensuring timely submission of quotes within agreed SLA timeframes and in agreed formats. Support key and national account clients as a trusted technical adviser. Collaborate with the sales team to ensure technical accuracy and commercial competitiveness of proposals. Ensure all survey activity and documentation complies with relevant British Standards and industry codes of practice. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of fire and security system technologies, regulations, and best practice.

What You'll Bring
Solid technical knowledge of fire and/or security systems and their installation. A good understanding of relevant industry standards (e.g. BS5839, BS EN 50131). Strong self-motivation and the ability to manage your own workload effectively. Confident communication skills — written and verbal — to engage clearly with clients and internal stakeholders. A collaborative approach and willingness to work as part of a wider surveying and sales team. Proficiency in Microsoft Office products
Person Specification
Essential Experience
Experience in the installation or servicing of fire and/or security systems. A general understanding of the relevant industry standards (e.g. BS5839, BS EN 50131, PD 6662). Basic use of Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook). Industry knowledge and awareness of current fire and security technologies.
Beneficial Experience
CAD software for system design and drawing production. MS Visio for schematic and layout drawings. CASH or similar estimating/job management systems. Adobe Acrobat for document preparation and submission. Basic networking infrastructure knowledge to support IP-based security systems.
