At BRE, our Fire Protection team plays a leading role in testing, certifying, and advancing products and systems that help protect people, buildings, and infrastructure. As demand for fire resistance and large-scale fire testing continues to grow, we are looking to speak with talented fire resistance professionals who want to be part of one of the UK's leading fire testing and research organisations.
Whether your background is in fire testing, engineering, laboratory operations, project management, technical reporting, or client-facing technical services, we offer exciting opportunities to contribute to meaningful work that supports safety, innovation, and industry standards.
Working from our Watford site, you'll join a collaborative team delivering a diverse range of fire resistance and large-scale testing programmes for clients across the construction and manufacturing sectors.
Potential roles at BRE
As part of our growing Fire Protection team, you'll contribute to the planning, delivery, and development of fire resistance testing projects, helping to ensure products and systems meet the highest standards of safety, quality, and compliance.
Depending on your experience and level, responsibilities may include:
- Supporting or leading fire resistance and large-scale fire testing projects
- Planning and carrying out testing activities in accordance with relevant standards and procedures
- Producing and reviewing technical reports and test documentation
- Managing client relationships and providing technical guidance throughout projects
- Coordinating laboratory activities to ensure efficient project delivery
- Contributing to technical problem-solving and continuous improvement initiatives
- Supporting the development of new testing capabilities and services
- Mentoring and sharing knowledge with colleagues across the team
- Promoting high standards of health, safety, quality, and operational excellence
- Representing BRE at industry events, technical forums, and client meetings

What We're Looking For
We're keen to hear from individuals with experience in one or more of the following areas:
- Fire resistance testing
- Large-scale fire testing
- Laboratory or technical testing environments
- Product testing, certification, or assurance services
- Technical project delivery and project management
- Technical reporting and standards compliance
Successful candidates are likely to demonstrate:
- A strong technical understanding of fire testing principles and methodologies
- Experience working within a laboratory, testing, engineering, or related technical environment
- Excellent organisational and problem-solving skills
- The ability to manage priorities and work effectively across multiple projects
- Strong communication skills and a customer-focused approach
- A commitment to quality, safety, and technical excellence
- Experience working with relevant British, European, or international testing standards (desirable)
- Knowledge of ISO/IEC 17025 and quality management systems (desirable)
- Relevant scientific, or technical qualifications, or equivalent industry experience
