Role Summary
The Risk Assessor is responsible for carrying out Fire Risk Assessments, Legionella Risk Assessments, Health & Safety Risk Assessments, and Disability Access Risk Assessments on behalf of The HSRA across a range of commercial, residential, healthcare, hospitality, education, and leisure premises nationwide.
The role involves conducting detailed on-site inspections, identifying hazards and compliance gaps, producing high-quality site-specific reports, and communicating findings professionally with clients and internal teams. Assessors are expected to work independently while maintaining consistent reporting standards, professionalism, and customer service throughout the assessment process.

This role plays a critical part in maintaining The HSRA’s reputation for delivering practical, unbiased, and professional compliance support nationwide.
Responsibilities
- Conduct Fire Risk Assessments in accordance with the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 and relevant UK guidance documents.
- Conduct Legionella Risk Assessments in accordance with HSE ACOP L8 and HSG274 guidance.
- Conduct Health & Safety Risk Assessments in accordance with the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974 and associated regulations.
- Conduct Disability Access Assessments in line with the Equality Act 2010 and relevant accessibility guidance.
- Carry out on-site inspections safely and professionally while following company procedures and dynamic risk assessment requirements.
- Identify hazards, non-compliances, and areas requiring improvement across client premises.
- Produce detailed, site-specific reports using company reporting systems and templates.
- Clearly explain findings, risks, recommendations, and control measures within reports using professional and objective language.
- Ensure all findings are supported with sufficient detail, observations, and photographic evidence where applicable.
- Complete reports on-site where possible and submit finalised reports within 24 hours of the assessment visit.
- Record unavailable documentation accurately at the time of inspection without retrospectively amending findings unless authorised.
- Carry out temperature testing, outlet inspections, and water system observations as part of Legionella assessments.
- Identify vulnerable persons, occupancy risks, evacuation considerations, and accessibility barriers during inspections.
- Maintain professional standards of appearance, conduct, and communication while representing The HSRA on client sites.
- Contact clients ahead of appointments to confirm attendance times, site access arrangements, and any relevant site requirements.
- Keep clients and the operations team informed of delays, access issues, or unexpected site conditions.
- Manage travel arrangements and scheduling efficiently to ensure punctual attendance at appointments.
- Maintain confidentiality of client information, reports, and business processes.
- Use company systems, software, and mobile applications correctly to complete assessments and upload findings.
- Participate in onboarding, competency reviews, quality assurance checks, and ongoing training where required.
- Maintain professional competency and keep up to date with changes in legislation, guidance, and industry best practice.
- Escalate any significant risks, unsafe conditions, safeguarding concerns, or operational issues identified during assessments.
- Cooperate with internal quality assurance procedures and implement feedback where required.
- Support positive working relationships with clients, contractors, and referral partners.
- Ensure all assessments are conducted impartially without upselling remedial services or creating conflicts of interest.

Essential Qualifications & Experience
- NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent recognised health and safety qualification
- Experience conducting risk assessments within commercial or residential environments
- Good understanding of UK health and safety legislation and compliance requirements
- Strong written English skills with the ability to produce clear and professional reports
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel nationwide
- Competent in using tablets, mobile applications, and digital reporting systems
- Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively
Desirable Qualifications & Experience
- Fire Risk Assessment qualification or relevant fire safety experience
- Legionella Risk Assessment training or experience
- Disability Access or Equality Act compliance experience
- Experience within healthcare, hospitality, education, leisure, or property management sectors
- Experience using SafetyCulture/iAuditor or similar inspection software
- Membership of relevant professional bodies

This role may involve regular travel and occasional overnight stays depending on workload and location coverage.
