About the Role
WWT EMEA is seeking an experienced Firewall Security Engineer with a focus on Check Point solutions to support our clients’ network security infrastructure. The ideal candidate must have:
- Strong hands-on experience with Check Point firewalls
- A solid understanding of enterprise network security
Key Responsibilities
- Install, configure, and maintain Check Point firewalls (including Gaia OS, Security Gateways, and Management Servers)
- Manage:
- Security policies
- NAT rules
- VPNs (Site-to-Site and Remote Access)
- Access Control Lists (ACLs)
- Monitor and analyse firewall performance, logs, and alerts using:
- SmartConsole
- SmartEvent
- SmartLog
- Troubleshoot connectivity, routing, and security-related incidents
- Perform firmware/software upgrades and patch management (e.g., Check Point Jumbo HotFix Accumulatives)
- Implement and maintain advanced Threat Prevention functionalities:
- IPS (Intrusion Prevention Systems)
- Application Control
- URL Filtering
- Anti-Bot solutions
- Conduct:
- Regular security audits
- Rule base cleanups
- Rule base optimisation
- Document network security configurations, changes, and standard operating procedures
- Collaborate with network and security teams on:
- Architecture design
- Incident response
- Ensure compliance with:
- Security policies
- Industry best practices

Required Skills & Experience
- 5+ years of hands-on experience with Check Point firewalls (preferably R80.x/R81.x)
- Proficiency in:
- Firewall policy management
- VPN configuration
- Network Address Translation (NAT)
- Experience with:
- Check Point Management Server
- ClusterXL (for high availability setups)
- Solid understanding of:
- TCP/IP networking
- Routing protocols (e.g., OSPF, BGP)
- Network security concepts
- Familiarity with additional security technologies (e.g., IDS/IPS, proxies, SIEM) is a plus
- Check Point certification (e.g., CCSA or CCSE) is preferred
- Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills
- Effective communication skills and ability to collaborate in a team environment

Additional Requirements
- Must be willing to undergo a background check before commencing contract
- Must be eligible to live and work in the specified location
- Some occasional travel may be required
