We have a fantastic opportunity for a Firewatcher (HPC) to work on the Hinkley Point C project. This is a temporary, 6-month contract.
Our Nuclear & Infrastructure division has extensive experience in the specialist, highly regulated nuclear, transport (road and rail), process industries and power and energy sectors. Providing award-winning design teams, utilising state-of-the-art design software and Tekla detailing facilities to offer customers value engineering. This gives a mix of proven success along with modern, innovative design and fabrication ideas to be able to provide a quality, specialised service to a growing market. They continue to set the bar high in their highly regulated market!
Vacancy Details
The purpose of this role is to provide surveillance to eliminate or reduce the potential for fires. This includes projects like welding or patrolling in hot work areas.
Main Duties
- Watching out for fire hazards in the workplace while Hot work is performed by other employees.
- Maintaining the conditions and requirements stated on the Hot work permit.
- Keeping flammable materials away from ignition sources.
- In the event of fire, extinguishing it or turning a fire alarm on.
- Call the emergency alarm number.
- Making sure of the exact location of firefighting equipment in the immediate area.
- Maintaining constant means of communication.
- As much as possible, keeping visual and voice contact with other employees.
- Before and during each shift, inspecting the entire work area and looking for potential risks.
- Be prepared to operate fire extinguishers, if trained to do so.
- Never leaving the job site while the work is being done. If leaving, stop the job and notify workers or else deploy it to another Fire Watch to continue the Hot Work until return.
