Firmware Engineer
Firmware / FPGA Engineer Salary £50,000 to £80,000 plus strong benefits package Based from South West or Hampshire, with flexible working arrangements Work on secure, long-term national security programmes Firmware, FPGA and VHDL experience required Active DV clearance required
ABOUT THE CLIENT Our client is a highly respected engineering and technology organisation delivering advanced capability into the UK National Security domain. They work across secure, complex and technically challenging programmes, supporting the development of systems that genuinely help protect the UK.
Due to continued growth across long-term secure frameworks, they are now looking for a Firmware / FPGA Engineer to join their expanding engineering function. This is a key hire, with flexibility around experience level for candidates who can bring strong FPGA, firmware and VHDL capability within a secure engineering environment.

THE FIRMWARE / FPGA ENGINEER ROLE As a Firmware / FPGA Engineer, you will design, develop and implement FPGA-based solutions for secure and mission-critical systems. You will: Design, simulate and implement FPGA solutions using VHDL Develop firmware solutions for complex embedded systems Support integration across hardware, firmware and embedded software teams Work on secure communications and wider national security-focused systems Conduct lab-based testing, debugging and verification Contribute across the full engineering lifecycle, from requirements through to delivery Work closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams to solve complex technical challenges
FIRMWARE / FPGA ENGINEER ESSENTIAL SKILLS Proven FPGA design experience Strong VHDL experience Firmware development experience Experience working across the engineering lifecycle Ability to support integration, test and verification activities Experience within defence, national security, secure communications or similarly complex engineering environments Active DV Clearance

DESIRABLE SKILLS Experience with OpenCPI Experience with DSP or real-time signal processing Experience with RF, digital communications or secure communications systems Experience with embedded C, C++ or Python Experience with MATLAB or Simulink Knowledge of lab-based testing using oscilloscopes, spectrum analysers or similar equipment
