First Article Inspector - VTR UK Staffing

First Article Inspector – 6 Month Contract (Brockworth, Gloucester)

About the Role

We are seeking a First Article Inspector for a 6-month contract positioned in Brockworth, Gloucester.


Key Responsibilities

  • Perform First Article Inspections (FAI):
    • Conduct dimensional and visual inspections of propeller assemblies and components using precision measurement tools.
    • Verify compliance with engineering drawings, technical specifications, and customer requirements.

Responsibilities & Requirements

Candidate must possess:

  • Previous experience in FAIR review/sign-off.
  • Working knowledge of AS9102 Specification.
  • Relative commodity experience (mechanical is priority).
  • Strong understanding of:
    • Inspection techniques
    • Reading engineering drawings
    • Writing Root Cause and Corrective Action Requests
    • AS9100, ISO 9001, and AS9102 Standards

Documentation & Reporting

  • Prepare and maintain detailed inspection reports as per AS9102 FAI documentation.
  • Ensure traceability of materials and components.
  • Identify, document and address non-conformances, collaborating with engineering and manufacturing.
  • Log daily hours and activities for weekly submission.
  • Raise and monitor non-conformances related to FAI, providing input for root cause analysis and corrective action.

Collaboration & Communication

  • Work closely with quality peers, engineering, manufacturing, and supply chain teams to resolve quality issues.
  • Support daily FAI progress management and escalate to meet production deliverables where necessary.

Continuous Improvement

  • Identify opportunities to enhance FAI processes and identify compliance concerns.

Skills Required

Technical Proficiency:

  • Proficient in reading and interpreting engineering drawings & technical specifications.
  • Experienced in using precision measurement tools.
  • GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) expertise.

Certifications Preferred

  • ASQ Certified Quality Inspector (CQI) or equivalent.
  • Training in AS9102 FAI documentation.

Work Environment

  • Exposure to manufacturing environments (noise, dust, machinery).
  • Regular multi-disciplinary team interactions.

Additional Requirements

  • Eligible to work in the UK.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain security clearances (including ITAR).
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including overtime, as required.
  • Role is inside IR35.
