First Line Manager
First Line Manager – Warehouse Operations
Location: Rotherham Reports To: Operations Manager Shift Pattern: 4-on-4-off (06:00 – 18:00)
About the Role
Specialising in providing an unparalleled range of logistical solutions, Alliance Automotive Logistics supports over 250,000 automotive parts deliveries weekly to garages and repair centres across Europe. This First Line Manager role is central to ensuring operational effectiveness through high-performing teams, sustainable processes, and adherence to safety standards.
Key Responsibilities

Operational Leadership
- Manage daily warehouse operations, including order picking, packing, inventory control, and despatch.
- Support Supervisors in organising workloads and meeting targets while fostering effective team collaboration.
- Prioritise tasks to optimise workflow and enhance inter-departmental efficiency.

Performance Management
- Track and report operational KPIs (e.g. pick accuracy, productivity, on-time despatch rates).
- Conduct regular performance reviews with Supervisors to address underperformance and drive continuous improvement.

Continuous Improvement
- Collaborate with leadership on process optimisations and cost reductions.
- Implement lean methodologies and ensure adherence to evolving Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

Health & Safety Compliance
- Enforce strict adherence to all health and safety regulations, including conducting risk assessments.
- Investigate and report safety incidents while implementing preventive measures.

Team Development & Engagement
- Coach and mentor Supervisors to build strong, confident leaders.
- Foster an inclusive culture with open communication and identify high-potential employees.

Resource & Workflow Management
- Monitor staffing levels and warehouse resource allocation.
- Work with recruitment and maintenance teams to resolve operational challenges.

Requirements
Qualifications & Experience:
- Minimum: High school diploma or equivalent.
- Preferred: Advanced certifications in logistics, supply chain management, or operations.
Experience:
- At least 2 years in a management or team leadership role, preferably in warehouse, automotive, or distribution settings.
Skills:
- Leadership: Proven ability to manage and motivate teams.
- Technical Proficiency: Experience with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and Microsoft Office.
- Analytical Capability: Interpret operational data to inform improvement strategies.
- Communication: Strong stakeholder engagement at all levels.
- Knowledge: Depth in health & safety, operational best practices, and lean practices.
