First Team Physiotherapist – AWFC Medical and Performance Department
About the Role
We are seeking a First Team Physiotherapist to play a pivotal role within the AWFC Medical and Performance department. You will work closely alongside the Performance Physiotherapist, Female Health Physiotherapist, and Rehabilitation Physiotherapist to provide essential medical support for the Arsenal Women First Team and Academy, ensuring optimal athlete health and performance.
In this exciting and critical role, you will deliver high-quality matchday assistance, daily physiotherapy treatment, and rehabilitation, making a significant contribution to the department’s objectives.

Your Day-to-Day Responsibilities

Build Impactful Relationships
- Establish trusting, winning partnerships with players to optimise their general health, performance, injury risk management, and recovery.

Deliver Elite Injury & Performance Support
- Lead best-in-class injury management and rehabilitation strategies.
- Collect and analyse data to identify performance and injury trends.
- Support the implementation of evidence-based recovery strategies.
- Oversee the return-to-performance phase of rehabilitation.

Matchday & Training Support
- Provide on-site medical assistance at all matches and training sessions.
- Organise, manage, and transport medical equipment efficiently.

Drive Rehab Innovation
- Accurately diagnose injuries and develop tailored intervention plans.
- Provide prognostic guidance and return-to-play timelines to the team.
- Contribute to evidence-based decision-making frameworks for common injuries.

Maximise Player Availability
- Ensure optimal performance and availability through judicious decision-making and physiotherapy interventions.

Collaborate Across the Medical Team
- Support the evaluation of rehab/treatment effectiveness.
- Work closely with other medical and performance professionals to enhance shared decision-making on injury treatment and prevention.
- Provide daily reports on player status to the Head Coach.

Bridge Club-International Medical Connections
- Build strong working relationships with international medical teams to ensure seamless player transitions.

Ensure Compliance & Best Practices
- Assist in auditing AWFC squad cardiac screenings for First Team and Academy players.
- Maintain the FA Injury Audit in collaboration with Physiotherapists.

Pre-Signing Medicals
- Support the physiotherapy team in conducting pre-contract medical assessments for new players.
What We Are Looking For in You
Elite Experience in Sport
- Proven expertise in elite-level athlete care, with a strong track record in diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation of sports injuries.
Credentials & Qualifications
- BSc in Physiotherapy.
- Registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
- Advanced Emergency Aid Certification (Level 5 ATMMiF).
Clinically Versatile Mindset
- Knowledge of conventional and alternative treatments, grounded in evidence-based practice with experienced-based learning.
