January to March

Which career?

If you don’t already have a career in mind, that's fine. Now’s the perfect time to start researching options and exploring possibilities with the help of our team, as well as looking for relevant part-time jobs.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Tailor your CV

Spend time updating your CV with any new experiences from the last year. Depending on the job or placement you're aiming for, you’ll want to tailor it. If you’re unsure about anything, book a careers appointment or attend a careers drop-in.

Over the summer

Give yourself a boost

There are a few things you can do to enhance your CV and prepare for the year ahead:

  • Find some part-time jobs and volunteering work to help you gain new skills and experience.
  • Look into the various industries and occupations linked to your degree and consider researching individual companies too, so you’ll be in a prime position to apply for placements.
  • Set aside some time for psychometric tests. They’re often used in applications for placements and internships, so practising will help you feel more relaxed.
