Fitness and Wellbeing Manager

Sheffield, UK | Fitness & Wellbeing Club | Permanent Contract, Full-time £29,360 per annum (depending on experience) 40 hours per week


About the Role

As the UK’s largest Healthcare Charity, Nuffield Health seeks a dynamic and experienced leadership figure to drive our fitness and wellbeing mission. We’re looking for a Fitness & Wellbeing Manager—someone who not only excels in coaching but also thrives in managing teams, enhancing operations, and driving revenue growth.

This role requires a seasoned fitness professional with a track record in personal training, team leadership, and group/fitness programming, plus a passion for commercial success and people development.


Core Responsibilities

Your key priorities will include:

  • Cross-functional management of a team in a commercial fitness environment, covering:
    • Sales and service delivery of major membership programmes
    • Governance of operational standards across Sheffield FWC
    • Strategic oversight of commercial services and revenue streams

  • People leadership:

    • Report and line-manage a small team under the Programme Director
    • Train, mentor, and coach colleagues to achieve their full performance potential
    • Identify learning needs and develop actionable development plans
  • Crafting and delivering exceptional services:

    • Design, manage, and optimise fitness programmes—including personal training sessions, group classes, and exclusive member experiences
    • Ensure smooth execution of class timetables, booking systems, and on-site operations
  • Driving operational quality and KPIs:

    • Maintain crime-free environments
    • Increase team agility and motivation to set and surpass revenue targets
    • Collaborate to run large health and fitness events
  • Site excellence:

    • Evaluate and implement improvements in standards, facilities, equipment, and member experiences

Requirements & Experience

We’re looking for a qualified, empathetic leader who can:

  • Hold REPs Level 3 Personal Trainer accreditation or CIMSPA Practitioner Level
  • Have supervisory or small-to-medium team management experience (fitness sector preferred)
  • Demonstrate strong revenue-generating qualities, with proven results in driving profits
  • Specify measurable corporate KPIs and staff performance benchmarks
  • Experience in large membership gyms (treating variations/membership changes)
  • Qualification to teach group competitive fitness programmes (if appropriate)
