The Extracare Charitable Trust

The Extracare Charitable Trust are recruiting for a Fitness Instructor on a permanent contract to join our supportive team, based at Earlsdon Park Retirement Village based in Coventry.

Are you a Fitness Instructor, who is compassionate, patient, and personable and would like to develop your career with us? If so, we would like to hear from you.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Fitness Instructor to join our friendly team at our Earlsdon Park Village location and support the village’s commitment in delivering ExtraCare’s mission of “better lives for older people”.

Extracare does not participate in the current “UK Visa Sponsorship” scheme, and we would not be able to facilitate sponsorship.

Fitness Instructor

Hours

Part time, 20 hours per week - Please note this role is to be undertaken over 4 days with one early start and one evening and a requirement for Tuesday as a set day.

£13.45 per hour

Responsibilities

As a Fitness Instructor, you will be expected to carry out the following tasks:

  • To actively promote gym memberships to residents, focussing on the benefits to health, wellbeing and maintaining independence.
  • To support residents with inductions and develop personal action plans to increase their health and wellbeing.
  • To work with Wellbeing Advisors, Dementia and Mental Wellbeing Enablers to encourage residents to join the gym or attend classes such as Otago that may benefit their overall health.
  • To be fully aware and familiar with all relevant Gym policy, work instructions and relevant guidance and forms, ensuring that these are adhered to at all times.
  • To provide fitness assessments, consultations and introduction sessions and to ensure that every user receives a comprehensive induction before using any relevant equipment and the rules of the gym.

  • Previous experience of working in a gym
  • Organisational and administrative experience
  • Customer service environment
  • Experience of carrying out Risk Assessments for clients
  • A good understanding of health and safety of clients at all times
  • Design and implement a fitness programme for gym members
