A Snapshot of Your Day
Join our dynamic team as a Fitter at Ruston Works in Lincoln! In this role, you will engage in inter-machine and final machine fitting operations, crafting high-quality rotor shafts and discs. You will collaborate closely with production and engineering teams to uphold the highest quality standards. Imagine using your skills with hand tools, pneumatic tools, and rotary deburring machines to ensure precision and excellence in every piece you produce. Your contributions will directly support our mission of delivering top-notch manufacturing solutions.
How You’ll Make An Impact
- Use hand tools, pneumatic tools, and rotary deburring machines safely to dress, blend, and deburr rotor shafts and discs, including the use of liquid nitrogen
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, layouts, and specifications to determine machining operations effectively
- Measure and visually inspect completed parts to detect defects and ensure they conform to manufacturing documentation
- Perform routine maintenance on machines and equipment to guarantee optimal performance
- Collaborate with production and engineering teams to troubleshoot and resolve machining issues
- Maintain a clean and organized work area while adhering to health and safety procedures

What You Bring
Ideally, you have:
- Completed a recognized full Level 3 apprenticeship or possess an NVQ Level 3 in Mechanical Engineering with Fitting units or an equivalent qualification in Fitting
- Experience in mechanical and bench fitting
- A strong understanding of engineering drawings and specifications
- Excellent attention to detail for accuracy in measurements
- Good communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams
- Basic computer skills for documentation and reporting purposes
- A proactive outreach towards work and continuous improvement
