Fitter/Turner Training Delivery Instructor
Job Description
🕒 Full-time role, 37.5 hours a week on a term time only basis
📍 HMS Sultan, Portsmouth
🔐 Due to the nature of this role, you must be eligible for UK Security Clearance at SC level.
🔩 What You’ll Be Doing
- Deliver hands-on workshop training in fitting, turning, milling and general engineering skills
- Demonstrate techniques, guide trainees, and help them build confidence on the tools
- Support learners working towards recognised engineering qualifications
- Maintain workshop equipment and ensure safe working practices
- Share your real-world experience to bring learning to life
🧰 What We’re Looking For
We’re not looking for teachers — we’re looking for engineers.
You’ll Need (essential)
- A recognised apprenticeship (or equivalent experience) in fitting/turning or mechanical engineering
- Strong, recent hands-on workshop experience
- Skills across machining, fitting, milling, grinding
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings

👉 No teaching experience? No problem — we’ll fully train and support you.
🎓 What You’ll Get In Return
- Salary up to £42,000 (pro rata £41,265 term-time only)
- Term-time working (45 weeks) – enjoy extended breaks at Christmas, Easter & summer - The salary is pro rata’d and calculated to include contractual annual leave entitlement and bank holidays.
