An international bank is seeking an experienced Fixed Income Trader to help establish and develop its Fixed Income trading capability in London. This is a rare opportunity to join at the beginning of the journey, with significant influence over product focus, market strategy, and future desk growth.
Client Details
Our client is a well-established international banking institution with a growing presence in the UK market. As part of its strategic growth plans, the bank is investing in its Treasury and Markets capability and is looking to build a dedicated Fixed Income trading function to support its balance sheet, hedging requirements, and wider market activity.
Description
Work closely with internal teams to align trading activities with organisational objectives. Reporting directly to senior leadership, the Fixed Income Trader will play a key role in establishing and developing the bank's Fixed Income trading desk.

Key responsibilities include:
- Developing and growing the Fixed Income trading capability.
- Trading Government and Corporate Bonds across relevant markets.
- Managing Rates, FX and Money Market activity.
- Supporting the bank's sterling lending and hedging requirements.
- Contributing to the design of trading strategies, processes, and risk frameworks.
- Working closely with Treasury and senior stakeholders to identify growth opportunities.
- Helping define the future direction, product coverage, and market focus of the desk.
- Supporting the expansion of the trading function as the team grows over time.
Profile
The ideal candidate will possess:
- Proven Fixed Income trading experience gained within a bank, treasury, or financial markets environment.
- Strong knowledge of Government Bonds, Corporate Bonds, Rates, FX, and/or Money Markets.
- Experience managing risk and supporting balance sheet or hedging activities.
- A commercial and entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to build new capabilities.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
- The confidence to operate in a highly visible role with significant autonomy.
- A desire to play a leading role in shaping and growing a trading platform.
