Job Description

At Teledyne Gas and Flame we have a wealth of industry experience across the utilities, oil and gas, marine, nuclear and brewing markets and offer a wide range of innovative gas and flame detection solutions.

Teledyne Gas & Flame Detection uses its global capability, manufacturing excellence and custom engineering to provide end-to-end gas and flame detection solutions for a wide range of hazards worldwide. Our products are sold through a world-class system of direct sales, knowledgeable distributors, manufacturers' representatives and field service department. Our customer commitment does not stop at product delivery but encompasses ongoing services. From custom-designed solutions to unmatched technical support, our gas and flame detection solutions are backed by expert judgment and premier technology that you can trust.

What you’ll do:

The Field Service Support Engineer provides service, and repair of Gas detection equipment and systems, with a highly visible customer support through the performance of on-site installation, commissioning as well as overseeing any necessary diagnoses, troubleshooting. They instruct customers in the operation and maintenance of the system and serve as company liaison with customer on administrative and technical matters for assigned projects. Interprets customers’ needs and clarifies if the responsibility for problem resolution falls to sales personnel, customer support reps, or engineers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • To provide daily service, repair and commissioning labour.
  • Specifically to:
    • Plan and undertake routine service calls within defined territory, maximising productive time and service revenue and allowing sufficient time to respond to emergency call outs.
    • Ensure the maintenance of an appropriate level of spares, consumables and accessories carried in the company vehicle to support the efficient performance of servicing and repairs.
    • Control individual expenses within agreed budget levels and to maintain company assets in line with maintenance schedules.
    • Ensure that any test equipment is calibrated and tested at the defined intervals.
  • In addition to the above, to be responsible for any other appropriate duties, as instructed by your Manager/Supervisor.
  • Provide weekly and monthly reports to Service Manager with call plans for the following week.

  • Communication: Maintains timely, regular and accurate communication regarding issues, problems etc. that may impact overall performance.

Skills/physical requirements:

  • Fault finding skills.
  • Scheduling of work diary.
  • Computer literate.
  • Ability to read circuit diagrams and electrical drawings.
  • Work to RA / MS and “Permit To Work” Schemes.
  • Full Driving Licence.

Location

Based from home location, ideally Birmingham or surrounding areas. Travel to sites within assigned territory.
