As a Fleet Assistant, you’ll be part of maintaining a fleet of over 49,000 vehicles, including traditional fuel and electric vehicles, LCVs and HGVs. With ongoing modernisation, there’s ample opportunity to gain experience across diverse makes and models—ideal for those seeking a hands-on, evolving role.
Key Responsibilities
- Tyre Maintenance: Re-grooving, fitting, inflating, balancing, and puncture repairs.
- Basic Repairs: Replacing light bulbs, mirrors, doors, and wiper blades.
- General Maintenance: Fluid top-ups, pressure washing vehicles, loading/unloading test weights.
- Minor Body Repairs: Assisting technicians and preparing vehicles for MOT presentations.
- Forklift Operation: Loading/unloading vehicles via Forklift Truck (FLT)—licence preferred but not mandatory.

Salary & Benefits
- Base salary: £32,372 per annum
- Shift allowance: £135.32 weekly for working 21:26 – 06:00 shift
- Weekend supplement: £42.93 per Saturday shift
- Annual leave: 22.5 days + bank holidays (increases with service)

Requirements
Experience & Attributes
- Previous manual experience required, demonstrating the ability to use tools and work logically.
- Toe-cap boots (supplied) are essential to get started.
- Flexibility: Willingness to adapt to a rotating shift pattern and support team demands.
Licensing
- Valid UK manual driving licence (HGV with trailer experience preferred but not mandatory—vehicles may need ferrying to/from customer sites).
Essential Orientation
- Take pride in high working standards and a meticulous approach to tasks.
- Achievable training will be provided, but a logoical problem-solving foothold in basic mechanical tasks is valued.
