About the Role
We’re looking for an experienced Fleet Manager to take ownership of a large and diverse council fleet, ensuring essential frontline services run safely, efficiently, and reliably every day. As Fleet Manager, You Will:
- Lead the strategic and operational management of a fleet of approximately 295 vehicles and plant.
- Act as the Council’s O Licence holder, ensuring full compliance and safe vehicle operation.
- Manage a significant capital programme.
- Oversee fleet procurement, replacement programmes, maintenance, repairs and contracts.
- Drive performance through data, telematics and continuous improvement.
- Build strong relationships across services to maximise fleet utilisation and efficiency.
- Lead and develop your team, creating a high-performing, customer-focused culture.
You’ll play a key role in shaping how the Council delivers services - ensuring our fleet is fit for the future.
About You
We’re seeking a driven and knowledgeable professional with:
- A Transport Manager CPC and experience as an O Licence holder
- Proven experience managing large, complex fleet operations
- Strong background in fleet procurement, maintenance contracts and supplier management
- Experience overseeing significant budgets and delivering value for money
- A track record of leading service improvement, change and transformation
- Excellent stakeholder management and the ability to influence across an organisation
- Strong understanding of fleet compliance, safety, and regulatory requirements
