Due to a year of substantial growth, we are part of one of the largest and most respected DAF dealer groups in Europe. In this exciting role within our DAF Fleet Services organisation based in Devizes, you’ll join a highly skilled and collaborative team.

We are DAF, the largest truck manufacturer in the UK with record growth and award-winning trucks year on year. Our expertise in fleet management ensures clients receive bespoke solutions tailored to their operational needs. Our role is pivotal in driving innovation, maintaining customer service excellence, and shaping the future of DAF’s service offering in a dynamic industry.

About the Role

As Fleet Operations Manager, you’ll drive operational performance, cost efficiency, and continuous improvement within the Supplier Operations Team. Beyond routine maintenance, this role demands strong data analysis, cost optimisation, and trend identification to enhance fleet reliability while reducing operational expenditure.

Requirements & Qualities

We’re seeking a commercially adept Fleet Operations Manager with the following competence and attitude:

  • Proven experience in fleet maintenance, transport operations, or fleet management
  • Strong commercial acumen, with a track record in cost control and budget management
  • "Customer first" mindset, driven by team engagement and collaboration
  • Analytical proficiency—interpreting operational and financial data to derive actionable insights
  • Ability to identify trends, root causes, and implement data-driven solutions
  • Strong leadership, stakeholder management, and positive influence
  • Proven ability to manage high-performing teams
  • "Can-do" attitude with a problem-solving approach
  • Exceptional communication (both written and verbal)

Key Responsibilities

Criteria subject to role specifications

  • Oversee maintenance operations for a fleet of HGVs, LCVs, and trailers
  • Manage maintenance spend, with focus on cost control, forecasting, and variance analysis
  • Ensure customer-first approach influences all commercial decisions
  • Lead and develop high-performing teams by setting clear goals, fostering accountability, and fostering a collaborative, results-driven culture
  • Identify and mitigate failure patterns, implementing preventative measures to reduce repeat defects, breakdowns, and unnecessary costs
  • Manage and recommend third-party maintenance providers and supplier relationships
  • Initiate continuous improvement efforts, focusing on efficiency, cost reduction, and asset longevity
  • Collaborate with other departments to minimise fleet downtime

Working Hours

Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
