We are looking for an enthusiastic and customer focused Workshop Receptionist to join our experienced and close-knit workshop team at Shearbridge Depot.
Bradford council operates one of West Yorkshire’s largest and most diverse local authority fleet operations, maintaining circa 1,700 vehicles, which is increasing, including specialist plant equipment that deliver essential frontline services across the district every day. From refuse collection vehicles and winter maintenance machinery to operational support vehicles and specialist plant machinery. Our fleet workshop plays a vital role in keeping the city running safely efficiently and reliably.
We’re Looking For Someone Who –
- Has experience of working in a busy reception or workshop environment.
- Is competent in the use of Microsoft office applications and other computerised systems.
- Has excellent customer service and communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Has good administrative and data entry skills with a high level of accuracy.
- Can work safely, efficiently and professionally under pressure.
- Works well as part of a team and supports colleagues.
- Is reliable, adaptable and motivated.

The Role
As the first point of contact for the Fleet workshop, your duties will include –
- Receiving and processing vehicle maintenance and repair bookings via telephone and email.
- Creating job sheets and maintaining accurate records.
- Create financial orders under the supervision of the workshop reception engineers/supervisors.
- Liaise with customers, drivers, contractors and council services regarding vehicle repairs and maintenance.
- Support workshop reception engineers and supervisors with day-to-day administrative duties.
This is an administrative role within a busy operational workshop environment. The role requires a proactive approach with the ability to respond to changing priorities and service demands.
No two days are the same, making this an ideal opportunity for someone who enjoys variety, teamwork and problem solving - where your skills will directly contribute to assisting our busy fleet workshop keep essential council services operating safely and effectively for the residents of Bradford.
