Overview
We have an exciting full-time vacancy for a Float Registrar based in our High Wycombe Registration Office, though the role may require you to work across all county offices including Aylesbury, Buckingham, and Beaconsfield.
Key duties include:
- Registering births, deaths, stillbirths, marriages, and civil partnerships
- Attending citizenship ceremonies
- Transporting documents between offices
- Full training (up to 1 year) followed by multi-office coverage as required
Hours: Monday–Friday, 37 hours/week Additional: Optional weekend overtime (heavier summer demand).

The Buckinghamshire Registration Service handles all life events—births, deaths, marriages, and civil partnerships—across the county. Based primarily in Aylesbury (Walton Street Offices) and Beaconsfield, we operate small outstations and prioritize outstanding customer service during significant life moments.

As a Float Registrar, you’ll:
- Complete all forms of registration (births, deaths, wedding/civil partnership legalities).
- Facilitate private Citizenship Ceremonies.
- Work flexibly across offices to distribute workload and meet demand. No two days are alike—registering newborns one morning and officiating ceremonies (stately homes, hotels, barns)** later!
This is a fixed-employee role, basing most work at specific offices—*Aylesbury, Beaconsfield, High Wycombe—aligned with wider team needs and access requirements.
About You
We ask for candidates who:
- Are driving competencies confident (messenger duties between offices).
- Have attention to detail—critical for sensitive registrations.
- Enjoy diverse interactions, from parents-to-be to couples celebrating unions.
- Matriculation qualifications preferred (e.g., GCSEs).
We provide full training (up to 1 year).
