Floating Support Coordinator – Permanent Role

Location: 1 Victor Street, Manchester, M40 7PN Contract Type: Permanent Salary: £25,877.80 – £34,240 (reflecting full earning potential; starting salary dependent on experience)

About the Role: Floating Support Service

This role offers flexible, community-based support to individuals experiencing homelessness and challenges with substance misuse. We work across:

  • Community settings
  • Supported accommodation
  • Outreach programs

The service supports complex needs, including:

  • Substance misuse
  • Mental health challenges
  • Offending behaviours
  • Social isolation

Our approach is recovery-focused, trauma-informed, and centred on long-term resilience.


Key Responsibilities

As a Floating Support Coordinator, your core responsibilities will include:

  • Preventing homelessness:

    • Help individuals maintain accommodation and reduce homelessness risk.
    • Provide guidance on housing rights, benefits, and welfare.
  • Promoting independence:

    • Develop life skills, confidence, and personal resilience.
    • Foster positive routines and community connections.
  • Accessing tailored support:

    • Connect individuals with healthcare, treatment, education, employment, and training opportunities.
  • Wellbeing improvement:

    • Work collaboratively with individuals to improve mental and physical wellbeing.
    • Offer practical assistance (e.g., welfare checks, referrals).

    • Support recovery-focused interventions for drugs and alcohol.

Skills & Requirements

Essential Qualities

✔ Compassionate, people-focused and passionate about supporting vulnerable individuals. ✔ Committed to a recovery-focused, trauma-informed approach. ✔ Strong emotional resilience when working with individuals in crisis.

Desirable Experience & Skills

✔ Experience with homelessness services, addiction recovery, or mental health support. ✔ Understanding of safeguarding protocols, substance misuse policies, and risk assessment. ✔ Proficient in community outreach and client record-keeping. ✔ Skilled in building rapport while maintaining professional boundaries.

Technical Requirements

✔ Full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle (travel is essential for home visits/outreach). ✔ Ability to work flexibly in unpredictable environments, including evenings/weekends when required.

Transferable Skills Welcome

  • Lived experience with homelessness, substance misuse, or mental health challenges.
  • Qualifications/volunteer experience in housing, social care, or addiction support (though not strictly mandatory).
