Our client is a leading independent environmental consultancy, underpinned by a growing team of experts in environmental policy, strategy, design, and assessment.

With a proven track record of success, they have been involved with UK Government expert groups and European Commission working groups, providing expert evidence at Public Inquiries, and helped clients gain planning consent for thousands of projects.

The Role

We are seeking a Flood Risk and Drainage Consultant or Senior Consultant with appropriate qualifications to join our team, with at least 2+ years' experience preparing FRAs and Drainage Strategies. This is an exciting opportunity to join a forward-thinking solution focused environmental consultancy with sustainability at its heart.

The successful candidate will assist in preparing Flood Risk Assessments and Drainage Strategies for developments within the property, renewable energy, and aviation sectors.

Projects will include early strategy development, through to feasibility, outline design, planning submission, and discharge of conditions. You will have the opportunity to work within various consenting regimes, including Development Consent Orders and Town and Country Planning.

You will be expected to liaise within the team (and externally) to design SuDS schemes, integrate strategies within the masterplan, and prepare planning reports. Support and assistance will be provided by the wider Water Team.

Key Skills

  • Ability to recognise and communicate flood and drainage related constraints and opportunities at development sites.
  • Experience producing FRAs and drainage strategies.
  • Good knowledge and experience of InfoDrainage (or other drainage modelling software).
  • Ability to use AutoCAD and GIS.
  • Good knowledge of the planning system, in particular flood related policy and guidance such as the NPPF and SuDS Manual.
  • Awareness of project management and good communication skills.
  • Ability to write clear and concise reports.
  • Some knowledge of Tuflow, Flood Modeller, FEH or river restoration would be a benefit, but is not essential. Applicants considered on an equal footing irrespective of this.
